Zigbee protocol basics:
- ZigBee protocol operates on the 2.4 GHz frequency that propagates well in the built environment
- ZigBee connectivity is MESH connectivity which means that each ZigBee device with full L+N power supply acts as a signal booster for other devices. If the remote sensor does not have ZigBee gateway connectivity, it only needs to have radio connectivity with another ZigBee device with full L+N power supply that has gateway connectivity (up to 3 devices maximum). The devices work in a lattice chain of connections, which gives reliability and certainty of connection
- Devices using the ZigBee protocol connect to the control panel in 0.2 seconds in the event of a state change, while WiFi takes about 5 seconds to connect to the network after a state change. ZigBee devices have a huge advantage when automating smart rules
- On a WiFi network with 25 devices, you'll start experiencing network problems. You can easily add more than 50 devices to your ZigBee control panel
- ZigBee gateway and ZigBee devices allow for much wider and longer storage of parameter data and device history. Door opening history, temperature history, motion detection history saved for months back
- ZigBee communication consumes very little power, resulting in long life on battery power.
