ZigBee protocol operates on the well-penetrating 2.4 GHz frequency
ZigBee creates a MESH network, which means that every ZigBee device with full L+N power acts as a signal repeater for other devices. If a distant sensor cannot reach the ZigBee gateway directly, it only needs radio connectivity to another fully powered ZigBee device that has contact with the gateway (up to 3 hops). This mesh topology ensures a stable and reliable connection.
ZigBee devices connect to the hub in just 0.2 seconds after a state change, while WiFi devices usually take around 5 seconds. ZigBee has a major advantage in smart automation response time.
With WiFi, you'll start experiencing connectivity issues after just 25 devices ❌
With a ZigBee hub, you can add over 50 devices with no problem ✔️
ZigBee hubs and devices allow much broader and longer data/history storage – e.g. door open logs, temperature records, motion detection history, etc.
ZigBee communication consumes very little energy, making it ideal for battery-powered devices.
