ℹ️ Basics of the ZigBee protocol:

The ZigBee protocol operates on the well-penetrating frequency of 2.4 GHz, ideal for indoor environments.

ZigBee connectivity uses a MESH network, meaning each ZigBee device powered with full L+N supply acts as a signal repeater for other devices. If a distant sensor can't reach the ZigBee gateway directly, it only needs radio contact with another fully powered ZigBee device that connects to the gateway (up to 3 hops). Devices form a grid chain, ensuring reliability and stable connection.

When devices change state, ZigBee devices connect to the hub in 0.2 seconds, while WiFi devices take about 5 seconds to reconnect after a state change. ZigBee devices have a huge advantage in smart automation rules.

With WiFi, you may start experiencing network issues after 25 devices ❌

With a ZigBee hub, you can easily add more than 50 devices ✔️

The ZigBee gateway and devices allow for much broader and longer data and history storage: door opening logs, temperature history, motion detection records saved for months.

ZigBee communication uses very little energy, which means long battery life for battery-powered devices.
